Anxiety Awareness Tool
At one time or another we all experience some degree of anxiety. Speaking in public, being in large crowds, getting married, beginning a new job, or being pulled over for speeding are situational examples of anxiety. Unlike moderate amounts of stress, which can have positive motivating effects, symptoms of anxiety cause people to lose energy, have difficulty focusing, and feel out of control. With a lifestyle of conflicting demands, time pressures and ever-increasing responsibilities, the symptoms of anxiety and panic are increasingly common. Approximately 14% of the general population suffer from an anxiety disorder.
This awareness tool was developed to help individuals assess the extent to which they are prone to anxiety. It is not designed to diagnose anxiety disorders or measure the specific stresses present in your life.
Disclaimer: This anxiety awareness tool is meant to increase your awareness of anxiety and the symptoms that are often present in individuals with anxiety. This awareness tool is not to be used to diagnose anxiety. A detailed evaluation by your physician or other health care provider is required to diagnose clinical anxiety. If you are concerned about the level of stress and/or anxiety in your life make an appointment with your physician and/or book an appointment to see a Hurst Place counsellor.
